About Unclaimed

Unclaimed is a free tool built around one idea: a surprising number of young people in the UK are owed money they've never thought to look for — a Child Trust Fund they forgot existed, overpaid tax from a part-time job, an old pension pot, or a Premium Bonds prize nobody ever claimed.

None of this money is hidden or hard to get. It all sits behind official, free government or industry services. The problem is usually just not knowing which ones apply to you, or not realising you're eligible at all.

What this site actually does

Answer a handful of quick questions on the homepage, and we work out which of eight common "found money" situations might apply to you. For each one, we explain it in plain English and link you straight to the official, free service that can confirm it — gov.uk, NS&I, the Civil Aviation Authority, the Scottish Assessors Association, and so on. We never do the claiming for you, and we never ask for personal details to run the checker.

Why we say "might" be owed, not "are" owed

We can't see your actual tax record, pension pots, or bank accounts — nobody can, from a website. What we can do is flag situations that commonly mean people are owed money, based on publicly available rules from the organisations that hold that money. That's why every result says "you might be owed" and sends you to check for yourself with the real source.

How we make money

This site is funded by advertising (Google AdSense), not by taking a cut of anything you claim. We don't charge for the checker, the guides, or anything else on this site, and we never will.

Who's behind it

Unclaimed is an independent site and is not affiliated with HMRC, NS&I, the Civil Aviation Authority, or any UK government department. Got a question, or spotted something that needs updating? Visit our contact page.
